Yogyakarta, October 3, 2025 – Widya Erti Indonesia (WEI), an organization focused on supporting marginalized and rural communities, successfully held its annual strategic event Annual Learning in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
The three-day event, held from September 30 to October 2, 2025, was attended by all WEI staff stationed in various program areas, including Riau, West Kalimantan, and Bogor.
As a community support organization, WEI emphasizes that the quality of its empowerment programs stems from the competence and cohesion of its internal team. Annual Learning is held as a concrete effort by WEI to align perspectives, evaluate the organization’s performance, and strengthen relationships and collaboration among team members before returning to work in the community.
Internal Stability Is the Top Priority
WEI management believes that internal stability is key to the effectiveness and sustainability of empowerment programs. To that end, these activities are structured around three main pillars:
1. Team Meeting: Aligning Vision and Evaluation
The first day focused on an intensive team meeting. Staff from various regions had the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss challenges and opportunities in the field. The main agenda of this session was to formulate proposals for future changes and evaluations of the organization, based on the staff’s experiences. The event concluded with a motivational session led by WEI supervisor Nanang Budianto, aimed at aligning the vision and strengthening commitment.
2. Team Building: Building Team Cohesion Across Regions
Given WEI’s wide operational reach and staff spread across different regions at considerable distances, the team-building session on the second day was crucial. Through a series of collaborative activities and games, all staff members were encouraged to foster teamwork and get to know one another. This initiative aims to ensure that staff can build a sense of solidarity despite working in different regions, so that program coordination in the field can proceed optimally and in an integrated manner.
3. Team Learning: Enriching Cultural Understanding through Yogyakarta
The agenda concluded with a Team Learning session, during which staff were provided with non-technical insights. They learned about the history, culture, and local wisdom unique to Yogyakarta. This cultural learning is expected to broaden the staff’s perspectives and serve as a foundation of knowledge as they return to continue their mentoring duties in their respective regions.
Through the implementation of Annual Learning , WEI reaffirms its ongoing commitment to investing resources in strengthening its internal team. This step is a vital foundation for creating more effective support programs that deliver tangible impact for marginalized and rural communities throughout Indonesia.
